AMMAN — The chief of Israel's intelligence
agency, Shin Bet, has traveled to Washington to address concerns over the
deteriorating security situation in the West Bank and the potential collapse of
the Palestinian Authority (PA), according to the Times of Israel.

Ronen Bar, the head of Shin Bet, commenced a
series of meetings on Thursday with senior officials from the US that. The
discussions were held at the White House, the US State Department, and the CIA.
Although it was not specified whether Bar
would meet with CIA Chief William Burns, the newspaper mentioned that Burns had
been actively involved in preventing the collapse of the PA.
Last week, several other high-ranking Israeli
officials were also in Washington. Among them were Israeli Strategic Affairs
Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, who held
meetings with officials from the White House and the State Department.
US Reaffirms Commitment to Israel's Security
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan
reiterated the Biden administration's dedication to enhancing Israel's security
and promoting its economic integration in the Middle East.
However, Sullivan emphasized the importance of
taking decisive steps to improve the lives of Palestinians and achieve a more
peaceful, prosperous, and integrated region.
The US administration remains concerned about
the ongoing violence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which some officials
compare to the intensity seen during the second intifada.
Comments made by William Burns in February, as
quoted by the newspaper, highlight the concern over the current situation's
violent nature.
