The
medical staff, as revealed in the report, conducted 16
cesarean sections over
the weekend, bringing 18 to 20 babies into the world daily. Remarkably, they
did so facing critical shortages of
essential medical supplies, particularly
anesthesia.
In
the face of adversity, the report emphasizes the unwavering commitment of the
medical team at
Al-Awda hospital. Their dedication extends to supporting
pregnant women escaping bombardment in northern and central Gaza, as all other
hospitals in the region remain closed.
Powerless hospital endures,
thousands of women risk lives for childbirth
Raham
Jafari, Communication and Advocacy Officer at
ActionAid Palestine, stating,
"Thousands of women in Gaza are risking their lives for childbirth,
undergoing cesarean and
emergency surgeries without sterilization, anesthesia,
or pain relief."
Jafari
stressed the urgent need for women to have access to proper healthcare and the
right to give birth in a safe environment. Instead, women are forced to bring
their children into the world under nightmarish conditions. She Also added that
hospitals lack food, water, electricity, and fuel, with an increasing number
shutting down completely.
As
the Israeli occupation enters its 39th consecutive day of military aggression
on Gaza, with the support of the United States and mercenaries, its aircraft
continue to bombard the surroundings of hospitals, buildings, towers, and the
homes of Palestinian civilians. They block access to water, food, and fuel,
resulting in a rising death toll exceeding 11,240 martyrs, including over 8,000
children and women, and more than 29,000 injured.
