A thaw in diplomatic tiesRecently, the region has witnessed a thaw in diplomatic ties
with
Syria in the aftermath of the earthquakes that devastated the republic and
its neighbor Turkey.
Last month, the first official visit by a Jordanian foreign
minister to Syria since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in 2011 took place
when Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates
Ayman Al-Safadi travelled to Damascus.
The visit aimed to express Jordan's solidarity with Syria in
facing the aftermath of the recent earthquakes.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Safadi said that the visit
“represents a point on the path to reaching a solution for the Syrian crisis.”
