Over the past years, Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, targeting Syrian army sites, Iranian targets, and others belonging to Hezbollah, including weapons and ammunition depots in various areas, Addustour reported.

The Syrian News Agency, SANA, quoted a military source as saying, "The Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points southwest of Damascus."

The airstrike resulted in "serious injuries to a soldier and material losses," according to the source.

The source confirmed that "our air defense systems intercepted and shot down some of the enemy missiles."

Israel rarely acknowledges carrying out strikes in Syria, but it repeatedly emphasizes that it will continue to counter what it describes as Iran's attempts to solidify its military presence in Syria.

Since 2011, Syria has been embroiled in a devastating conflict that has resulted in the deaths of nearly half a million people, caused immense infrastructure damage, and displaced millions of people both inside and outside the country.
