HAIFA – On Monday, Israeli historian Ilan Pappé highlighted
evidence indicating the "beginning of the end of the Zionist
project," underlining that the "Palestinian National Liberation
Movement must be prepared to fill the void after the collapse of this project,"
Al-Ghad reported.

He declared during a press conference that the beginning of
the demise of Zionism is a long and dangerous era. Although he admits that “we
cannot debate the immediate future, we must prepare for the far future.” Pappé
expresses optimism that “we are witnessing the initial stages of the end of the
Zionist project, and we must actively contribute to shortening this period.”
Pappé believes that the first indicator lies in “the Jewish
civil war that occurred before October 7, 2023. It pitted the secular camp
against the religious camp within the Jewish community in Israel.” He believes
the war will reoccur because the basis that previously unified Zionists no
longer appears to be viable.
The second indicator is “unprecedented global support for
the Palestinian cause. Most participants in the solidarity movement are now
willing to adopt the anti-apartheid model that played a crucial role in
dismantling the apartheid regime in South Africa.”
The third indicator is the economic factor, marked by the
gloomy outlook for Israel’s economic resilience.
The fourth indicator highlights the inability of the Israeli
Occupation Forces (IOF) to protect the Jewish community in the south and north.
Finally, the final indicator concerns the attitudes of the
new generation of Jews, particularly those in the United States. Unlike past
generations, who believed that Israel provided security against another
Holocaust and waves of anti-Semitism, the current generation believes just the
opposite.
