Bowler wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account: "I want to be very clear: Hamas is a terrorist organization that has killed thousands of innocents."
In his post, he attached a criticism of his comments published by the Times of Israel, stating, "They are bad people by definition."
He further commented on his "difficult call" with Israeli Minister Ron Dermer: "I don’t care about that, we want a deal," he said.
Bowler added: "As President Donald Trump said, none of Hamas' members will be safe unless the organization releases all hostages immediately."
Earlier on Sunday, Bowler stated that U.S. meetings with Hamas about the release of hostages held in Gaza "had been very helpful" and did not rule out further meetings with Hamas.
According to global media, Bowler said his meetings with Hamas leaders in recent days aimed at determining the movement's ultimate goal to end the fighting, remarks that triggered Israeli criticisms.
