GAZA — The United Nations Special Rapporteur
for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Françoise Albanese, affirmed in a
report published on Monday that "there are logical reasons" to say
that Israel has committed numerous "acts of genocide," also pointing
to "ethnic cleansing."

Albanese stated in her report, which she will
present on Tuesday to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, that "the nature
and overwhelming scale of the Israeli assault on Gaza, and the destructive
living conditions it caused, reveal an intention to physically destroy
Palestinians as a group,” Amad reported.
In the report titled "Anatomy of
Genocide," the UN rapporteur concluded that "there are logical
reasons to say that the threshold indicating acts of genocide committed against
Palestinians in Gaza has been reached."
Albanese listed three types of genocide acts:
"killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to
members of the group, and deliberately imposing living conditions on the group
that would lead to the complete or partial physical destruction."
Here, the report refers to three out of five
genocide acts included in the Genocide Suppression Law and Protection from it.
She also emphasized in her report that
"images of civilian casualties after their displacement to southern Gaza,
accompanied by statements from some senior Israeli officials announcing their
intention to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and replace them with
Israeli settlers, logically lead to the conclusion that evacuation orders and
security zones were used as tools to carry out genocide and ethnic
cleansing."
The report continued: "Approval and
execution of genocide acts followed statements expressing an intent to commit
genocide, issued by senior military and government officials."
Albanese accused Israel of dealing with
"the entire group" and its infrastructure as "terrorist" or
"supporting terrorism," thus turning everyone into targets or
collateral damage.
She confirmed in her report that
"genocide against Palestinians in Gaza is an additional stage in a long
process carried out by settlers."
