GAZA — UN Special Rapporteur on Violence
against Women and Girls, Reem Al-Salem, expressed concern over the increasing
cases of rape by occupation soldiers against Palestinian women.
Salem noted on X, formerly known as Twitter
that it is disturbing to see these cases persist in Gaza amid Israel's
devastating war for the past six months,
Al-Ghad reported.
She stressed that rape and other forms of
sexual violence could be considered war crimes, crimes against humanity, or
actions that may amount to genocide.
The UN rapporteur urged an immediate halt to
violence against Palestinian women.
