UN rapporteur urges Int'l community to impose sanctions on Israel, isolate it
Amman - The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Michael Fakhri, urged all members of the United Nations and the General Assembly to exert pressure to impose sanctions on the Israeli occupation government and isolate it completely, unless it stops the genocide against the Palestinian people.اضافة اعلان

The UN website cited Fakhri as saying in a statement on Saturday that financial and economic restrictions on Israel must be imposed if it is not held accountable by the international community.

The UN rapporteur pointed out that UN organizations have not been harmed and damaged in any conflict in the world as they were in the Gaza Strip, as Israeli attacks included UNRWA employees to prevent it from continuing to carry out its duties towards the refugees.

He added that for the first time in modern history, a state is practicing starvation warfare as practiced by Israel against the citizens of Gaza, referring to a report he prepared and submitted to the UN about Israel's starvation of citizens in the Gaza Strip by closing its various crossings and obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid.

Fakhri explained the falsity of the claims made by the occupation government to prevent the entry of food and medicine trucks into the Strip, stressing that they are just false claims and flimsy pretexts to deny citizens their right to food and medicine.

"Israel started creating famine in the Gaza Strip by first destroying the food system before preventing the entry of food aid trucks and attacking fishermen, shepherds, and farmers," Fakhri said, noting that the food system in Gaza has been suffering from successive crises for decades, yet Israel has not faced any external pressure to stop the closure and siege on the Strip.

Fakhri urged the UN to put an end to the use of starvation as a weapon around the world, emphasizing the importance of the International Court of Justice's decision to end the occupation and grant Palestine full membership in the UN.
