Ted Chaiban, UNICEF's Deputy Executive Director for
Humanitarian Affairs and Supplies, stated that the water and food shortages,
along with overcrowding, are extremely concerning given the risk of waterborne
diseases such as cholera.
The organization delivered approximately 20 trucks through the Rafah crossing, carrying emergency medical supplies, water bottles, hygiene
items, and other emergency supplies.
Chaiban mentioned that UNICEF is trying to increase the
number of trucks transporting aid to Gaza daily, emphasizing that "the
United Nations has said that a hundred trucks are needed daily for sustaining
humanitarian work and efforts."
He added that UNICEF will continue to support children in
Gaza and work diligently to establish humanitarian pathways for urgent aid.
