The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of the catastrophic consequences that could result from the collapse of the agency, emphasizing that this would deprive an entire generation of Palestinian children of education.

UNRWA's Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that the lack of education would exacerbate the instability in the region, expressing deep concern over the social and economic repercussions of this deprivation.
Lazzarini emphasized that there is a "real danger of the agency's collapse and explosion" if its severe financial crisis continues.
He added that if UNRWA collapses, "we will certainly sacrifice a generation of children who will be deprived of proper education."
Lazzarini described UNRWA as a "lifeline" for nearly six million Palestinian refugees spread across Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria.
He confirmed that education is a fundamental right and a crucial tool for achieving peace and stability, warning that losing this opportunity would mean losing a bright future for Palestinian children.
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestine, stated that Israel aims to dismantle "UNRWA" as it symbolizes international presence in Palestine.
Earlier, UNRWA announced that approximately 260,000 children in Gaza have joined the agency’s distance learning program since January.
It is worth noting that the new school year in Gaza started on February 23, amid tremendous challenges resulting from the Israeli war on the region.
The educational infrastructure has suffered significant damage, with 85% of schools being rendered non-functional due to total or partial destruction, while 95% of educational buildings sustained varying degrees of damage during months of conflict. (RT)
