AMMAN — Last Saturday, the police in
Taiz Governorate,
Yemen, announced that the security forces managed to apprehend the perpetrators
of the assassination of Mueed Hameedi, the Jordanian director of the World Food
Program team, Ammon News reported.

The
Yemeni Ambassador to Jordan, Jalal Faqira, said today,
Wednesday, "We will announce the results of the investigation into the
assassination of the UN official at the appropriate time."
The
Jordanian citizen Mueed Hameedi, head of the
World Food Program team, was killed on Friday, and a number of Yemeni citizens were
injured by unknown armed assailants in the Turbah area, which is under the
control of the internationally recognized government in the southwestern
province of Yemen.
Mueed Hameedi, holding a Jordanian passport, had arrived in
the city a few days before to begin his duties as the head of the program in the
city.
