floods caused by Hurricane Ida in the New York region has risen to at least 44, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra. This has prompted the city authorities to issue an unprecedented declaration of an emergency.

According to the New York Times, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said that at least 23 people died in floods in the state, while 13 people died in New York City, including 11 who could not escape from the basements of buildings, according to police sources.
