The
Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released
audio recordings on Wednesday evening that showed pro-Israel activists
discussing the possibilities of targeting Tlaib during her visit to Arizona on
Tuesday evening.
In a statement issued by Edward Ahmed Mitchell, the National
Deputy Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, he said,
"Pro-Israel activists discussed on the X platform ways to harass Tlaib and
even kill her during her visit to Arizona."
He added that this incident is the "latest evidence of
the escalation of Islamophobia and hatred of Palestine in the United States,
spiraling out of control."
Last week, Tlaib arrived in Arizona to visit her alma mater
and participate in an annual fundraising event for the Arizona chapter of the
Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Following the incident, the University of Arizona canceled
Tlaib's participation in the event, and the hosting hotel canceled, prompting
the Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to relocate it
to another venue.
This comes after the U.S. House of Representatives approved,
on November 8th of this month, a resolution blaming Representative Tlaib for
her condemnation of President Joe Biden's policies and "Israel's"
actions regarding Gaza.
