WASHINGTON
— On Friday, the US announced more than
500
new sanctions against Russian individuals and entities, following the
recent death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

According
to
US President Joe Biden in a statement on Thursday, “These sanctions will
target individuals connected to Navalny’s imprisonment as well as Russia’s
financial sector, defense industrial base, procurement networks and sanctions
evaders across multiple continents,” Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
Saturday
marks two years since the start of the Russian-Ukraine war.
