COPENHAGEN – The
Danish Parliament approved a
law prohibiting "indecent treatment" of religious texts and
effectively banning the burning of copies of the Holy Quran on Thursday, after
such actions sparked anger in
Muslim countries in recent months.

According to Al-Mamlaka TV, the draft law,
which prohibits the "indecent treatment of texts of great religious
significance to recognized religious communities," was passed with a
majority of 94 votes in favor to 77 votes against in the 179-seat parliament.
