Every time we approach a new weather depression, unfortunately, we find ourselves facing a state of confusion and contradiction in weather-related news. As any low-pressure system approaches, this confusion becomes more noticeable, leaving citizens uncertain.

Forecasts vary from one source to another, reinforcing the public's sense of doubt. Recently, the phenomenon of inconsistency in weather news has become even more apparent, making people's questions about weather forecasts more complex.
In recent years, we have witnessed a state of disorder and inconsistency in reports about weather depressions and forecasts—something that was not as evident in the past. Weather forecasts are no longer just about describing upcoming weather conditions; instead, they are often filled with contradictions and confusion, reflecting a lack of coordination between the relevant authorities. Citizens now struggle with unclear information, which is genuinely frustrating.
Decades ago, weather reports were consistent and harmonious, with people relying mainly on forecasts issued by official institutions. Meteorologists worked under the supervision of meteorological departments or relevant government agencies. Back then, everyone would sit in front of their television screens or listen to reports through official channels, receiving precise and reliable weather updates. However, in the age of "digital communication," we have seen an increase in confusion and contradictions between different weather forecasts, making it difficult for people to determine which information to trust.
The reason for this issue seems quite clear: weather forecasts now come from multiple unofficial sources, such as social media and websites that may publish inaccurate or inconsistent information compared to official reports. As a result, these contradictions have created a state of confusion among citizens. Often, the Meteorological Department issues an official statement warning of a mild weather depression, while other reports from websites or personal accounts on social media provide conflicting details or different estimates. This discrepancy leaves people unsure about which information to rely on.
Without delving too much into the how and why, I believe the primary reason for this confusion is the lack of clear accountability—whether for those responsible for contradictory reports or for inaccurate forecasts. The absence of transparency in the work of official entities at times, and the failure to clarify the real reasons behind incorrect or conflicting forecasts, leave the public in a state of uncertainty and distrust. As a result, weather updates are often issued without sufficient explanation to the public regarding how these forecasts are derived.
However, I believe the solution is simple and can be implemented easily. The government should issue an official directive requiring a unified weather report to be distributed across all media outlets. Under this directive, no weather-related information or statements should be published unless issued by the officially accredited authority. Additionally, anyone violating this regulation or providing inaccurate statements should be held accountable, just as violations are handled under the Cybercrime Law.
Since confusion in weather reports has become a real challenge for citizens, it is now crucial for the relevant authorities to take greater responsibility and enforce stricter regulations, particularly on unofficial sources. There should also be a unified approach to official weather bulletins and effective coordination between all government agencies to ensure the public receives clear and accurate information. By implementing these measures, the government can enhance trust between citizens and official institutions while reducing confusion in cases of both mild and severe weather depressions.
