Economists have called on the government to reconstruct the sales tax on some goods, the
same way they did the custom tariffs in order to bring up aggregate demand,
under prevailing economic circumstances, according to Al-Rai newspaper.

The economists noted
that the restructuring of the sales tax on some goods, particularly those which
concern the middle and lower class, would reflect positively on the market and
increase the overall demand to alleviate the pressures posed by the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Economy expert Hussam
Ayesh asserted that the government today has several options to revive the
market, one is to reconstruct the sales tax.
He also pointed out
that due to the harsh economic conditions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the
government must work on reviving the local market by reconsidering
sales tax and fuel tax which overburden people, especially in winter.
