AMMAN — Egypt has scrapped an additional
levy on the delayed stay of Jordanian trucks in the country after the Kingdom
warned that the Egyptian move will affect transport between the two sides,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Minister of
Transport Wajeeh Azayzeh, who is also the chairman of the board of directors of
the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, and representatives of the Jordan
Customs Department discussed with the concerned Egyptian authorities the
decision to raise the fine on Jordanian trucks.
The Jordanians argued that the move will impact
Jordanian truckers and the transport between the two countries.
Azayzeh thanked the Egyptian side for their prompt
response in rescinding the decision.
Separately, the transport minister contacted his
Saudi counterpart regarding a decision on the lifespan of passenger vehicles
operating on the route between Jordan and Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi minister
pledged to “positively consider the matter.” No other details were provided.
