The Jordan News Agency, Petra, cited PSA data on
Sunday, saying trade between Jordan and Qatar amounted to 895 million riyals
($246 million) in 2012, surpassing the 1 billion mark in 2013 and reaching 1.5
billion riyals ($412 million) in 2014.
In 2015, trade between the two countries peaked,
reaching nearly 2 billion riyals ($549 million).
By 2016, trade exchange amounted to 1.3 billion
riyals ($357 million), but went on a downward trajectory ending with 624 million
riyals ($171 million) in 2021.
The data showed that the trade balance favored Qatar
from 2012 to 2017, but then shifted in favor of Jordan in the latter years.
Qatar’s exports to Jordan totaled 5.35 billion
riyals ($1.45 billion), compared with 2.44 billion ($670 million) imports,
resulting in a surplus for Qatar.
But between 2018 and 2021, Jordan recorded a 1
billion riyal ($275 million) surplus as Qatari exports totaled 1.2 billion
riyals ($330 million), compared with 2.2 billion ($604 million) imports.
