AMMAN —
Jordan’s trade balance
with the US recorded a surplus of JD105 million in the first quarter of 2022,
according to the latest foreign trade statistics, said the Jordan News Agency,
Petra.

Data released by the
Department of Statistics Sunday showed that
exports to the US increased by 6 percent to JD365 million in the first quarter
of 2022, compared with JD344 million in the same period of 2021.
Imports from America also climbed to JD260 million in the first
quarter this year, compared with JD245 million in the same period of 2021,
Petra said.
Garments and textiles were key exports to the
US market, followed by engineering industries, foodstuff, Dead Sea cosmetics,
and jewelry.
The
balance of trade is the difference between the value of a country’s exports and
imports in a given period, and is the largest component of its balance of
payments.
