AMMAN — The Aqaba port registered an increase in livestock imports during the first half of 2022 by 15 percent compared to the same period of 2021, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

In the January-June period of 2022, the Kingdom imported 934,000 heads of livestock against 812,000 heads in the reporting period of 2021, Secretary-General of the Jordan Navigation Syndicate (JNS) Mohammad Dalabeeh told Petra on Thursday.
The number of inbound containers picked up by 12.8 percent in the first half of the current year to a total of 421,489 compared to the 373,703 reported in the same period of 2021, Dalabeeh added.
Around 5 million tons of goods were imported via the port of Aqaba in the first half of 2022, while exported merchandise amounted to 5.3 million tons, according to Dalabeeh.
Imported vehicles during the first half of 2022 topped 57,821 vehicles against 46,928 in the same period of 2021, while exported vehicles decreased to 5,000 from 6,230 registered in the reporting period.
