Aqaba Port has
experienced repeated delays in the clearance of containers in the past,
especially at Customs Yard Number 4. However, authorities say they have drawn
up plans to deal with increased demand during Ramadan.
The port has brought
in 120 workers, reduced inspection rates, and moved towards electronic
container tracking, said Khaled Maaytah, director general of the Aqaba Company
for Ports Operation and Management.
Stressing the security
of supply chains, Maaytah said that the port brought in over 200,000 tonnes of
wheat over the past three months.
