The trade volume between the two countries reached nearly $1
billion last year, including $909 million of Jordanian imports from the Turkish
market, Ammon News reported.
Chamber’s efforts
During his meeting at the Chamber's headquarters with the
appointed Jordanian ambassador to Turkey, Hazem Al-Khatib, Haj Tawfiq stressed
the need to expedite the establishment of a comprehensive
Jordanian exhibition in Istanbul to promote Jordanian products. This effort would help in creating
commercial and investment partnerships with the Turkish side and diversify the
base of exported goods.
He pointed out the need to renegotiate a new free trade
agreement with Turkey under new frameworks and conditions, involving the
private sector when formulating it. This approach ensures the preservation of
mutual interests and increases
Jordanian exports to the Turkish market.
Affirming that the
Amman Chamber of Commerce would work to
activate memoranda of understanding it has with Turkish chambers of commerce,
especially with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
