LYN Bags, Simple, unique, and modern

AMMAN — Leen Abu Summaqa, a Jordanian designer with a passion for fashion, founded LYN Bags in 2019. Inspired by modern design elements, Summaqa ensured her designs were unique, elegant, yet classic. اضافة اعلان
Her affinity for colors and their role in fashion was a primary reason behind her decision to create her own line of handbags and purses for women.
Summaqa was not always a designer. She began her career as a fashion blogger on Instagram, where she showcased her style, where she shops, and what she purchases.
After developing her fashion blog, she launched her own bag accessory line called ‘It’s Simply Leen,’ which is now known as LYN Bags.
“I love to create color compositions that are new, unique, and unusual,” Summaqa told Jordan News in an interview.
Her idea to start her own handbag line began when she bought a colorful bag, which inspired her to design something colorful.

The designer shared that she enjoys making designs that allow people to express themselves. She is consistently looking for ways to encourage women to be themselves, love themselves, and be confident.
“You do not have to dress up similarly to others to feel like you fit in; you can be confident by wearing new designs,” she said, adding that the brand reflects empowered, unique, and creative women.
The designer creates different collections. Her earliest collection was bags in the shape of triangles. Inspired by the designer Issey Miyake, the bags are made of faux leather and accessorized with gold buckles.
“I own a bag from the designer Issey Miyake which is a geometric tote that includes small triangles, and this inspired me to design the triangle-shaped bags,” Summaqa said.

LYN Bags are practical bags made to suit all occasions and styles. They are colorful with a modern design, which adds an elegant twist to every look.
“The bags are useful, and you can fit most things in them, as they are mostly big, except the for the Mini Triangular bag,” the founder shared.
Most recently, Summaqa designed ‘The Diana Bag,’ which is inspired by the late Princess Diana’s style. The colors were chosen by Princess Diana’s outfits that she used to wear.

The designer shared that she stays up to date with the latest trending colors and styles of the year. She also shared that she finds inspiration in everything around her and insisted that inspiration is indeed everywhere, including nature.
Clothing is an essential part of Summaqa’s expression. When discussing her personal style, she describes it as “crazy, colorful, and uniquely me.” The designer loves to stand out and is comfortable showing off her color patterns and color combinations.
“The most important thing is to be confident,” Summaqa said. “Whether you prefer colors or basics, LYN bags add the perfect touch to any style.”
LYN Bags seeks to provide customers with trendy and distinctive bags that reflect women’s edginess and uniqueness, shared Summaqa.
For her manufacturing technique, Summaqa begins by sketching the design, discussing the shape of the design with the team before production, choosing the colors of the bags, and then communicates with a tailor to implement the design.

She said that most of the materials are locally sourced, adding that there is a lack of bag accessories in Jordan. This industry needs more support in terms of the availability of raw resources and production materials.
The designer sells her bags through Instagram, an online store, and a mobile application. She said that her goal is to expand her own line regionally and internationally. Furthermore, the founder mentioned that she would launch her upcoming collection soon.
“The new collection is different than others; it is more tailored towards usability and winter,” Summaqa said.
In addition to her passion for fashion, Summaqa uses her experience in social media and online marketing to support her business. She added that social media is the key to delivering her message to the world.
Summaqa shared that she has faced many challenges in that she did not receive any professional help from others in the field. As a result, her knowledge in the industry all resulted from her own research.
However, with encouragement from her friends and support from her parents, Summaqa was able to make a line out of her passion. “I surprised a lot of people, and no one expected to see my designs and bags,” Summaqa shared.
