Is Lost Ark the next big thing?

If you’re a Steam user, or a PC player in general, then it’s
safe to say that you might have heard of Lost Ark, a new popular title.
Streamers around the globe and many players alike have frolicked to this new
craze and have been constantly commending everything about it. So, what is Lost

Lost Ark is an MMORPG that very much feels like a Diablo variant of sorts: it’s packed to the brim with content, a fantastic levelling system, great graphics, and so much more. So it comes as no surprise that it has exploded in popularity, seemingly overnight. If you haven’t heard about it yet, do not fret, as we’ll be going over some of the basics and reasons to pick this free title up if you haven’t already.
The story
Lost Ark’s story is nothing new — it isn’t even that original. It follows the typical “humans and angels vs demons in order to save the world” shtick that many similar-looking games have been doing for a while now, but the story isn’t this stellar title’s selling point. With underwhelming voice acting and some lackluster writing, Lost Ark’s story isn’t something to write home about, but what it lacks in story, it more than makes up for in everything else.
Characters and classes
Lost Ark gives you the opportunity to get fancy with your character’s looks; the game follows the typical customization options most modern MMOs provide. You can choose from five classes, each with their respective subclasses: that gives you 15 potential classes to choose from.
What is a bit strange, however, is that some classes are gender locked. For example, mages are women and artillerists are men. However, this doesn’t feel like too heavy a price to pay given the variety and depth of the classes.

The five classes you can choose from are warrior, martial artist, gunner, mage, and assassin, all comfortable and familiar choices to anyone who is familiar with the RPG genre. Each subclass gives you with a gameplay experience that feels catered specifically to you.
Leveling up
Lost Ark does not deviate from typical MMORPG mechanics regarding leveling. Leveling up is crucial. Your character has their own skill tree and sub-trees for individual abilities. So be sure to focus on grinding those experience points in order to be able to tackle the higher-level areas and farm that juicy loot.
Combat
The combat in Lost Ark is where the game shows its true colors. With point-and-click movement like the Diablo franchise, you scour the world while fighting off hordes of enemies, each designed to look both menacing and lethal. There’s a special satisfaction you get from watching the damage numbers appear on your screen as you mow down groups of baddies with your respective classes, and seeing your hard-won loot drop provides you with a sense of glee and accomplishment. While the horde slaying might sound a bit repetitive, worry not, as there are a ton of boss battle interactions to also look forward to.
What makes Lost Ark feel so nice is the fact that each class can do a ton of damage. Some are definitely more potent than others, but watching a bard wipe out a massive group with some musical magic is extremely satisfying.
Verdict
It’s clear that Lost Ark has made quite the impact on the gaming world, and it’s clear to see why. Not many games are able to scratch so many itches at once with the familiarity of an MMO, a Diablo like formula, satisfying combat, and grinding — and all for free. It’s important to note that the game is not available yet in the Middle East, but you can find plenty of workarounds online to download in from Steam anyway. Although a bit tedious, it’s safe to say it’s absolutely worth it. So do yourselves a favor and look into Lost Ark, and prepare to have the grind of a lifetime.
