AMMAN — The 22nd and final round of the Jordanian Professional League that took place on Tuseday night, marked a huge moment in the history of Jordanian football, when Israa Mobaideen led the first all-female squad to referee a match in the men’s Professional League.

Mobaideen was assisted by referees Islam Al-Abadi, Sabreen Al-Abadi, and Haneen Murad in the match between Sahab SC and Baqaa, which ended in a score of 4-1, capping both teams’ seasons in a very special way.
In an interview with
Jordan News, Israa Mobaideen said: “Yesterday’s match was definitely the biggest challenge of my career so far. I am definitely very thankful for the opportunity, and very excited as this is a step forward for all female referees.”
“It was a big deal for me that’s for sure; it created some kind of pressure, pressure from the community of football fans more than anything else, but that only made me realize how important it was that I was chosen to represent all women referees,” she added.
The
Jordan Football Association released a statement, saying that in accordance with its vision empower female referees, it looks forward to helping a generation of female referees.
After hosting the Women’s World Cup and the
Asia Women’s Finals, as well as other regional and local women’s football events, Jordanian women’s skills in various administrative, technical, and organizational domains have seen tremendous growth in recent years, the statement said.
