AMMAN — The Arab Football Federation has appointed Samar Nassar as the chairman of the organizing committee for the Arab Women's Championship. Nassar was previously the secretary general of the
Jordanian Football Federation.

Nassar will head the tournament, which runs from August 24 to September 6 in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo. She was chosen in light of her extensive experience in organizing and managing international, Arab, and regional tournaments.
Nassar previously served as the executive chairman of the organizing committee for the 2016 FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup in Jordan, before becoming a member of the executive body of the the Arab Football Federation, and then secretary general of the Jordanian federation early last year. She has won numerous international awards in the field of sports.
Other Jordanian personnel are also involved in the management and organization of the tournament, with Heba Al-Abed previously appointed the tournament's judging officer.
The Jordanian women’s national team will be playing in Group II, alongside Algeria and Palestine, and the competition is an important stop-start ahead of next month's
AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.
