Amman — The draw for the for the 2023 FIBA Basketball
World Cup qualifications will take place at 1pm on Tuesday.
The Asian
Basketball World Cup qualifying system is
based on the distribution of the 16 participating teams into 4 groups, with
each group comprising 4 teams divided geographically (East and West), i.e. a
total of 8 teams per region.

The teams of Iran, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, India, Saudi
Arabia, Bahrain, Syria, and the Jordanian national team will compete in the
West Asian group in the first round of the playoffs.
The national team is present at the first level along
with Iran, and with Lebanon and Kazakhstan at the second level, India and Syria
at the third level, and Bahrain and Saudi Arabia at the fourth level.
The top three teams from each group qualify for the
second stage of the playoffs, to merge with one of the East Asian groups,
consisting of a group of 6 teams, with each team carrying their points from the
first stage to the second stage.

and the top three teams from each group qualifies for the World Cup.
Asia and Oceania's share of the World Cup will be 8
seats, with Japan and the Philippines as the host countries, to qualify
directly for the tournament, with 6 teams competing for the remaining cards.
This will be reduced to 5 if Indonesia gets one of the top eight places in the
Asian Cup postponed to July next year, which will be held in Jakarta.
