Ayla Oasis Development Company and the
Jordan Marathon Association/Run Jordan signed an agreement to run the 17th Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon, which is set to take place in December in integration with the country’s
coronavirus pandemic recovery strategy for all sectors.

This year’s Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon returns in its traditional form in December, with the contest catering to large groups of participants.
Ayla’s 17th marathon will be held in cooperation with the
Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), which is in line with Ayla’s strategy to support both the sports sector and the country’s youth through local, regional, and international sports competitions and contests, all that are set to take place throughout 2021.
The 16th round was held virtually through the Run Jordan Virtual app during 2020 due to
COVID-19.
Speaking about the upcoming marathon, Ayla’s Managing Director Sahl Dudin said, “We announce the return of the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon for all running enthusiasts as well as the citizens of
Aqaba. This is a further confirmation of our unwavering commitment to the sports sector and healthy community relationships.”
“We are working closely with both the ASEZA and the Jordan Marathon Association to ensure that the race is held in line with the highest standards and within the approved health protocols. The Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon is a significant event through which we are eager to showcase local talents while
simultaneously championing the spirit of competition, sportsmanship and positive community interaction, as well as to promote Jordan, and Aqaba in particular, as a tourism destination.”
On her part, Jordan Marathon Association General Manager Lina Al-Kurd said, “We are proud of our strategic partnership with Ayla that continues to make the largest sporting event in Aqaba in its 17th season a success. I thank and appreciate Ayla’s team efforts represented by the Managing Director in the success and continuation of facilitating the organizational process, as well as giving runners the opportunity to participate in Ayla’s running route while enjoying scenic views and living a new experience.”
For the past decade, the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon has become a regular part of Ayla’s agenda, showcasing the development’s commitment to sports traditions as well as highlighting its avid support of Jordan’s runners.
The Ayla Oasis Development Company regularly organizes athletic events and tournaments as a way of promoting a sports-centric culture and encouraging community participation.
Ayla is considered to be a major platform for national and regional sporting events throughout the year, promoting sporting events to encourage local sports activities within the city of Aqaba.
