AMMAN — The fourth edition of the Asian Para Games is set to
kick off on Sunday at Hangzhou Olympic Stadium, hosted by the Chinese city of
Hangzhou from October 22 to 28. The Jordanian Paralympic Committee is
participating with a delegation comprising 16 athletes competing in four
sports: weightlifting, goalball, athletics, and table tennis.

Abdul Kareem Khattab and Tharwat Al-Hajjaj, the Jordanian
Paralympic weightlifters, will proudly carry the Jordanian flag during the
opening ceremony. Before the official opening of the games, Jameel Al-Shibli,
the Paralympic weightlifting champion, had the honor of participating in
carrying the Asian Para Games torch, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
Jordan's participation in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games
starts with the table tennis players Osama Abu Jamea and Faten Alimatt, who
will compete in the singles events for the third and fourth categories,
respectively.
The Jordanian Paralympic Committee is making its fourth
appearance in the Asian Para Games, having earned a total of 17 medals in the
previous three editions, including five gold, six silver, and six bronze
medals.
Jordan's journey in the Asian Para Games began with the
first edition hosted by Hangzhou, China, in 2014, where they won five medals,
including three gold and two bronze. In the second edition held in Incheon,
South Korea, Jordan secured nine medals, including one gold, four silver, and
four bronze. In the last edition in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2018, the Jordanian
delegation clinched three medals, including one gold and two silver.
