Jordan will participate in this year’s summer Olympics
through a “quota” system, put in place as part of
COVID-19 as part of extensive
health precautions, which allows for the nomination of the athletes who are
deemed to be the most prepared or qualified to enter the international event.
“We are going step by step with Boshnak’s preparation plan,
despite obstacles and the lack of local and international competitions. We are
intensifying training and individual training, which have confirmed she is
ready and has largely maintained her performance,” national athletics coach, Hussein
Fiddhi, told
Jordan News.
“I have recently spoken to federation president, Saad
Hiasat, and assured him that Boshnak needs to engage in international events
and to attend a training camp ahead of the Olympics. We have agreed on a good
preparation plan for the athlete and that we have had to go back to square one
due to the absence of real tournaments due to
COVID-inspired restrictions,”
Fiddhi added.
