National taekwondo team athletes Zeid Al-Halawani and Natalie Al-Humaidi failed to qualify for the
2020 Tokyo Olympics after losing their respective semifinal faceoffs in the Asian qualifiers.

The qualifiers, which concluded on Saturday saw the participation of 84 athletes from 28 countries.
Halawani scored a win in his first spar against the Lebanese, Mark Khalifeh (24-3) for the under 58 weight group, but then lost to the Filipino Kurt Bryan (50-49).
Humaidi pulled off two consecutive wins, first, against her Palestinian peer, Layan Jaber (32-6) and second in a match against the Cambodian, Nicole (5-3).
However, Humaidi later lost to Iran’s Nahid Kiyani (4-2) in the semifinals.
National taekwondo team members, Juliana Al-Sadeq and Saleh Al-Sharabati qualified to the Olympics last weekend, pushing the number of Jordanians who have qualified for the mega event to eight; among them five boxers (Hussein and Ziad Ishaish, Obada Al-Kasbeh, Mohammad Al-Wadi and odai Al-Hindawi,) in addition to equestrian Ibrahim Bsharat.
