AMMAN — Jordanian National Taekwondo Team players, Juliana
Al-Sadeq and Mahmoud Al-Taraira achieved two silver and one bronze medal on
Tuesday at the World Championship held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Al-Sadeq ranked first in the world won the silver medal in
the 67kg and under category, while Al-Taraira secured the bronze medal in the
58kg and under category, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee.
Al-Sadeq lost the final match to the French player Majda
Fiett Henin with a score of 2-1, while Al-Taraira lost the semifinal match to
the Russian player Georgi Gortsiev with a score of 2-0.
Al-Sadeq reached the final in the under 67kg category at the
World Championship after defeating the Norwegian player Marie Nielsen with a
score of 2-0 in the semifinals.
Both Al-Sadeq and Al-Taraira had already secured a medal in
the World Championship by reaching the semifinals in their respective weight
categories.
Before reaching the semifinals, Al-Sadik achieved three
victories in the under 67 kg category, defeating Moroccan player Sofia Saleh
(2-0) in the round of 32, Chilean player Claudia Gallardo (2-1) in the round of
16, and Chinese player Zhang (2-0) in the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Al-Taraira won four fights in the under
58 kg category, defeating Malian player Youssef Simpara (2-0) in the round of
64, Greek player Yannisios (2-0) in the round of 32, Ivorian player Issa
Diakite (2-1) in the round of 16, and Italian player Vito Dell'Aquila, the
Olympic champion of Tokyo, (2-0) in the quarterfinals.
With these two medals, Jordan now has a total of nine medals
in its record in the history of its participation in Taekwondo World
Championships, including three silver medals and six bronze medals.
On the other hand, the player Rama Abu Al-Rub exited the
competition in the quarterfinals of the under 73 kg category, after achieving
two victories over the players from Ivory Coast and Gabon with scores of 2-0
and 2-1 respectively, before losing to French player Althea Laurin with a score
of 2-0.
Jordan's participation in the World Championship will
continue on Wednesday, with Saleh Sharbati competing in the under 80 kg
category, and Fahed Ammar in the under 87 kg category.
