AMMAN — National karate athlete Abdul Rahman Masatfeh bagged
an Olympic qualification card ahead of the 2020
Tokyo Games, after winning in
the (-67kg) weight group of the
Paris-hosted international qualifiers.

Masatfeh sparred his way through 10 opponents, wherein he
won seven, tied in two and lost one match. The athlete managed to secure one of
10 spots within his weight group in the
Olympics, which will host Karate as a
sport for the first time in history.
Including Masatfeh, nine Jordanians have qualified for the
Olympics — scheduled between July 23 and August 8. Those are: Hussein and Ziad
Ishaish, Obada Al-Kasbeh, Mohammad Al-Wadi, Odai Al-Hindawi (Boxing). Juliana
Al-Sadeq and Saleh Al-Sharbati (Taekwondo) and Ibrahim Bisharat (Equestrian
sports).
