AMMAN — The national para weightlifting player, Omar Qarada,
achieved the gold medal in the 49kg category at the Asian Para Games (Hangzhou
2022). The
fourth edition of the Asian Para Games, hosted by the Chinese city
of Hangzhou, commenced on Sunday with an impressive opening ceremony held at
the
Hangzhou Olympic Stadium.

More than 3,000 athletes, representing 44
delegations, are participating in the
Asian Para Games (Hangzhou 2022). During
the opening ceremony, it was a proud moment for the Jordanian para
weightlifting team as Abdul Karim Khattab and Tharwat Al-Hajjaj had the honor
of carrying the Jordanian flag, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
The Jordanian delegations participating in
the Asian Para Games arrived in Hangzhou, China, the previous Sunday and have
been diligently preparing in specialized sports facilities dedicated to the
competitions.
Jordan makes its fourth appearance
The Jordanian Para Olympic Committee has made
its fourth appearance in the Asian Para Games, amassing a remarkable total of
17 medals in the past three editions, including five gold medals, six silver
medals, and six bronze medals.
Jordan's journey in the Asian Games began
with the first edition hosted by Hangzhou, China, in 2014, where they secured 5
medals, including three golds and two bronzes. In the second edition hosted by
Incheon, South Korea, Jordan's tally rose to 9 medals, comprising one gold,
four silver, and four bronze medals. In the most recent edition held in
Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2018, the Jordanian delegation clinched three medals,
with one gold and two silver medals among them.
