AMMAN — National Taekwondo team coach, Fares Al-Assaf,
has selected Saleh Al-Sharabati, Juliana Al-Sadeq and Zaid Halawni to represent
Jordan in the Asian Olympic Qualifiers.

The Kingdom host the qualifiers between May 21 and May 23.
Speaking on the selection process, Jordan Taekwondo
Federation Treasurer Faisal Al-Abdallat told
Jordan News: “Technical
Coach Fares Assaf has decided to select these players based on their consistent
performance in the international rankings after they ranked well in the Sofia
International Open tournament.”
Al-Abdallat added: “The name of the fourth player who
will represent our team in the qualifiers will be announced on April 15. We are
looking for an impressive Olympic appearance.”
Internationally, Al-Sharabati went up by a single place;
coming in the 11th spot with 255.22 points for the 80kg weight group.
Halawni went up three places; coming in the 39th spot
with 109.28 points in the 68kg weight group and Al-Sadeq maintained her position in 10th with 260.48 points in
the 67kg weight group.
The national team is gearing to take part in the Asia
qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The qualifiers are expected to see the
turnout of 120 players competing across eight official Olympic weight groups
and distributed equally among both genders. A total of 16 — the winner and
runner-up within each group — will qualify for the Olympics.
