Sports with Khaled: Jordan has medal haul at Arab Taekwondo Cup

AMMAN — It was a week filled with action and excitement for Jordan in the world of sports, with major events taking place in taekwondo, tennis, judo, and table tennis. Read ahead to find out more.اضافة اعلان


TaekwondoThe national Taekwondo team made a triumphant showing at the third edition of the Arab Cup tournament in Fujairah, emerging with a total of six medals.

The squad earned three gold medals, courtesy of Zaid Alhalawani, Fahd Ammar, and Anas Al-Sadeq, while Juliana Al-Sadeq and Laith Al-Rawashdeh took home two silver medals. Loay Ihmedan rounded out the team's haul with a bronze medal.

The men's national team also secured a first-place finish among the participating Arab nations.

The tournament was hosted at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah and saw a record 742 fighters from 20 countries take part.


TennisNational tennis sensation Musa Qutub delivered a standout performance in the second round of the Davis Cup World Group II play-offs this week, defeating Salvadoran player Diego Duran in impressive fashion.

Qutub claimed the match with commanding wins in two sets, showcasing his skills with scores of 7-6, 4-6, and 6-2.


JudoThe Judo Federation recently wrapped up its Kingdom's Judo Championship at Prince Rashid Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City.

With 126 participants from various judo clubs and centers competing in the juniors, men, and women categories, the tournament was a showcase of the sport's talent in Jordan.

This competition also served as the first event for the national teams, as the Jordanian Judo Federation prepares for the year's upcoming tournaments.


Table tennisThe WTT Feeder Amman 2023, hosted by the Jordanian Table Tennis Federation, concluded its exciting matches on Saturday.

With 120 world-class players taking part, including some highly-ranked competitors, the tournament was a thrilling display of the sport's talent.

In the Men's Singles category, China's Cao Wei made a triumphant run and took home his first WTT Feeder Series title with a victory over fellow countryman Xu Haidong. The Women's Singles championship was won by Kuai Man, who delivered a stunning performance to defeat Natalia Bajor in the semifinals.
