AMMAN — Jordanian rally car driver Farah Zakaria, 23, won the
FIA Rally Star Finals
in the women’s category for the Middle East and North Africa region, which was
held on Saturday at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. She qualified for the
international finals, which will be held in North America in November.

Jordanian racers Moaz Al-Shishani, Yazan Merhi,
Amjad Mismar, Ghaith Abu Taa’a, and Abdullah Al-Bastami also competed in Abu
Dhabi.
After winning, Farah Zakaria said: “I am very happy
to win. It was a great experience. I would like to congratulate the other
contestants who participated with me. I am really looking forward to
representing Jordan in the Women’s Final in America.”
Zakaria will join Maja Halen Vilnius (Sweden) and
Katie Milner (UK) to participate in the European Final in Germany.
The FIA Rally Star
Middle East and North African
Final included a set of timed tests and races. After the competitions ended,
the winner was invited to join the Estonian racer Romit Jurgenson, the winner
of the FIA-Rally Star Europe qualifiers, to participate in the first session of
the FIA Rally Star training season scheduled for 2023.
The tests also included time-limited training
sessions on board the TN5 cars provided by the Life Leaf Organization for
World Rally Championship rider Thierry Neuville.
The drivers competed in 6 races with the start of the
qualifying stage for the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to a series
of physical challenges and mental tests, in front of a judging panel that
included a selection of the world’s top names in the world of rally racing,
including the famous rally driver Brianella Solberg.
