AMMAN — Royal Jordanian, (RJ) in collaboration with Embraer, the world’s third
largest aircraft manufacturer, organized a special flight to Aqaba on October 4
to demonstrate to the participants the characteristics of the new aircraft,
E195, one of the E2 family that RJ is considering adding to its fleet.

RJ’s Vice Chairman and CEO Samer Al-Majali, Embraer
Commercial Aviation CCO Martyn Holmes, executives from both companies, media
representatives and social media influencers took part in the event.
Majali told
Jordan News that “15 years ago,
we had an entire regional fleet of the E1 family, but now what is left of them
are four aircraft that need to be changed.”
He said E2 is going to be one of the smallest RJ
aircraft; it is going to cover shorter routes, no longer than 2 hours.
E2 will be an important enabler for RJ’s growth plan
in the Levant, contributing to increasing frequencies to current markets, thus
offering passengers more choices through higher frequencies, Majali said.
He added that RJ is considering introducing this
modern aircraft type to its short-haul fleet, to “boost operating economics and
fuel efficiency”, and lower maintenance costs.
The aircraft’s carbon emission is lower than that of
E1, and it consumes 15 percent to 20 percent less fuel, Majali added.
The interior is spacious, the seating comfortable,
and there is Wi-Fi available during the entire flight.
If an agreement with Embraer is reached, “we are
going to buy 10 aircraft in the next five years”, Majali said, adding that RJ
has a long-standing cooperation with Embraer, “which has established itself as
one of the largest commercial aircraft companies in the world”.
RJ’s strategy, Majali said, now focuses on further
boosting its position as the preferred airline for the Levant “by offering
robust connectivity to a wider destination network, and these aircraft will
greatly serve the plan”.
The objective is also to
position Amman as the leading gateway in the region by improving the quality of
the services at all touch points, in a concerted effort to make passengers’
experience even more comfortable and convenient, he said.
