The honoring ceremony, attended by
Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research Wajih Owais, featured UJ researchers from different
disciplines, whose research was highly cited over the last five years in the Scopus
database.
According to a UJ statement on Sunday, UJ President Nazir Obeidat lauded the
researchers' efforts and achievement, referring to "first-class Jordanian
scientists, who make an impact and contribute to the world's progress."
Obeidat said a key challenge facing scientific research in Jordan's
universities is aligning this effort with creating an economic and political
environment that supports excellence, which would increase investment in
science and innovation.
Jordan, he said, firmly believes in education-related prosperity based on
research and innovation, which still needs new initiatives to build global
connections that would qualify Jordan to engage in more influential international
research experiences in production areas.
