AMMAN —
The Kingdom’s 14 main
dams hold 27.6 percent, or 77.5 million cubic meters, of
their 336 million cubic meters total storage capacity after the weekend rain
which sent some 745,000 cubic meters to the dams, according to Jordan News
Agency, Petra.

As a result, 65.2
percent, or 5.343 billion cubic meters of the Kingdom’s long-term rainfall
average of 8.1 billion cubic meters has been achieved since the start of the
2021–2022 wet season, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said on Sunday.
Despite
historically scarce precipitation, the southern
Red Sea port of Aqaba has
witnessed rain at 183.8 percent of the annual average since the beginning of
the season.
The ministry said
that Al-Balqa governorate received 86 percent of its long-term average,
followed by Amman (78 percent), Irbid (74.4 percent), Ajloun (68.5 percent),
Maan (61 percent), Madaba (56.2 percent), Karak (51.7 percent), Mafraq (42.8
percent), Jerash (42.1 percent), Tafileh (37.5 percent), and Shobak (35.8
percent).
