Othman added that 48 tonnes of fresh imported and vacuum-sealed chilled meat were also inspected, in addition to inspecting five tonnes of chilled meat imported from Tanzania, and four tonnes of fresh fish, while 380 tonnes of meat were displayed in a selling market.

He said that the GAM has set the working hours of the Amman slaughterhouse during the holy month of Ramadan from 6am–6pm.

A team of veterinarians affiliated with the slaughterhouses department will accompany the unified inspection teams to markets and malls to ensure the quality of the meat packaging and its suitability for human consumption, and to address any complaints about meat and poultry, according to Othman.

He called on people to look for the official slaughterhouse seal when buying meat, and to purchase meat from licensed stores.
