Abu Farsakh said that the reason behind hepatitis
cases that has been recently recorded in several countries remain unknown. And
even though the number of cases recorded was low, estimated at 200 cases in 20
countries, the seriousness of it lies in the fact that it is a very intense
infection in the liver which might cause liver failure.
He added that hepatitis type A is the most common
among children. More than 97 percent of those infected do not suffer from liver
failure and they recover.
He stated that the most recent case recorded close to Jordan
was for an 8-year-old child in
Gaza. Until now no cases have been detected in
the Kingdom, according to concerned authorities.
