AMMAN — Boycotting poultry resulted in
unsold chicken to accumulate on supermarket shelves, declaring a boycott call a
success, the president of the
National Society for Consumer Protection said.

Mohammad Obeidat urged the
Ministry of Industry and Trade to form a committee comprised of experts from political parties to study the real increases in feed
prices and to set real price ceilings for poultry, according to Jo24.
Obeidat said the campaign to boycott poultry will
continue for another 10 days. He said citizens are willing to boycott any
commodity, just like they shunned chicken.
He pointed out that there is a “class of monopolists”
who want to get rich from the pockets of citizens, not caring about people’s
pocketbook issues.
Obeidat urged housewives in the countryside to move
toward farming and raising poultry at home.
“If these conditions continue, hunger is coming,” he warned.
