AMMAN—Dr. Ziad Zoubi was elected the
head of Jordan Medical Association (JMA) council, its elections results
announced on Saturday showed, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Zoubi
received 1,812 votes, while his contender Issa Khashashneh garnered 1,797 votes
in the polls and Nasser Shomali won 388 votes, head of the election’s
supervising committee said.
The
committee counted the voting papers for JMA council's membership
electronically, the committee noted in a statement.
The
committee has recounted votes in the JMA elections, after the preliminary
results showed that Zoubi advanced in the competition by a slight margin of 21
votes over his nearest competitor.
