AMMAN —
Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh
received Egyptian Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Karam Gabr
and an accompanying delegation, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Khasawneh stressed in Monday’s meeting the strategic
relationship between Jordan and Egypt, which is embodied in the brotherly
relations between His Majesty King Abdullah and President
Abdel Fattah El-Sisi,
and the cooperation between the two countries’ governments.
He also
underscored the important role played by the media in the two countries in
strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation, and voicing Jordan’s and
Egypt’s largely similar positions on various Arab, regional and international
issues.
For his part, Gabr underlined the importance of
bolstering joint cooperation between the two countries in the media field and
exchanging expertise to serve the two countries and their people.
Separately, Minister of State for Media Affairs and
government spokesperson Faisal Shboul received Gabr.
Both underscored the strategic cooperation between
Jordan and Egypt, which are a priority for His Majesty King Abdullah and
President Sisi.
His Majesty’s directives have always emphasized the
need to maintain the distinguished relations,
coordination and cooperation with
Egypt at the highest levels, Shboul
said, stressing that “our priorities are the same, our cooperation is one, and
our horizons are limitless.”
He pointed to the importance of joint coordination
and seeing eye-to-eye on various issues, especially the Palestinian cause and
frameworks of joint cooperation. He voiced hope to bolster bilateral
cooperation in the media field, whether at the level of official media
institutions or in terms of launching joint initiatives to control content on social
networking sites and reduce the media’s lost profit from the advertising
market.
In turn, Gabr said that the directives of President
Sisi is that Jordan’s national security is an integral part of Egypt’s national
security, and has stressed the need to strengthen relations in various fields.
He hailed Jordan’s ongoing support for Egypt and its
stances, pointing to the wise leadership’s persistent and constant endeavors to
enhance Arab action and achieve security and stability in the region.
Within the framework of media cooperation and
coordination, Gabr stressed the need to frame media cooperation within a joint
team to address any issues or topics of interest to both sides, in addition to
the close cooperation between the official media institutions in the two
countries.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Arab
media meetings hosted by Jordan on Tuesday and organized by the Secretariat
General of the Arab League/Media and Communication Sector in cooperation and
coordination with the
Arab Commission for Satellite Broadcasting.
Shboul also held separate talks with Assistant
Secretary-General and Supervisor of the Media and Communication Sector at the
Arab League, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Al-Khattabi.
Shboul underlined Jordan’s support for the Arab
media meetings and the efforts of the Arab League to address issues and
challenges facing the media and communication sector, including extremism and
digital media. He underscored the
importance of these meetings and their role in shaping joint Arab solutions.
The state minister also highlighted the schedule set
for the Arab delegations participating in the meetings, which includes a visit
to Irbid, the capital of Arab culture.
For his part, Khattabi thanked the Kingdom for
hosting the meetings, lauding its support for the Arab League’s efforts in
various fields.
He also stressed the importance of holding these
meetings, which “discuss important topics and issues,” voicing hope that they
will produce outputs and results that will be submitted as recommendations to
the Council of Arab Information Ministers, which is set to meet next September.
