Ministry spokesperson Haitham Abu Foul said in a statement on Sunday that the escalation
of Israeli violations and the accompanying provocative practices are a flagrant
and unacceptable violation of international law and the historic and legal
status quo in Jerusalem and its sanctities.
Abu Foul also noted that the continuous violations and attacks on Jerusalem's
holy sites represent a dangerous policy that would lead to further escalation,
which would have consequences on all.
The spokesperson stressed that
Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its
entire 144 dunum area, is a sole place of worship for Muslims, adding that
Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowment Department and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs is the
legal entity with exclusive authority and jurisdiction to manage and regulate
entry to the holy site's yards.
Calling on Israel, as the occupying power, to immediately cease all practices
and violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque and respect its sanctity, he stressed the
need to stop all Israeli measures aimed at changing the existing historic and
legal status quo and respect authority of Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowment
Department.
