AMMAN — A Royal Decree was issued Tuesday
accepting the resignation of the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR)
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Irhail Al-Gharaibeh, the Jordan News Agency,
Petra, reported.

Following the Royal Decree, Gharaibeh issued a
statement, according to a local news outlet, in which he said: “I was proud to
comply with the Royal Decree that was issued to appoint me as chairman of the
Board of Trustees of NHCR in August 2019, and served with pride and honor to
contribute to protecting truth, justice and preserving human rights in Jordan.”
“In this context,
I thank God for facilitating this honorable work for me, and I also thank His
Majesty the King for caring and supporting this position, enhancing its
independence and lending it moral and material support,” he said. “I also thank
all those who exerted efforts to support the center’s success and missions, and
all the national institutions and agencies that cooperated with the center and
helped it make its observations and references regarding human rights.”
He also thanked fellow board members who supervised
the work of the center and helped improve its performance and its mission to be
a success, “as well as developing it and raising its profile at local,
regional, and global levels”.
