AMMAN — The
Cabinet fixed the prices of different kinds of bread until the end of 2023,
amid the global rise in prices of grain, the Jordan News Agency, Petra,
reported.
Under the
decision, the price of a kilogram of large-size white pita bread will remain
320 fils, and of small-size white pita bread will remain 400 fils. Taboon, saj,
and other types of bread will remain at 350 fils per kilo.
According to the
decision, the JD4 cash support to non-mechanical bakeries, such as stone and
semi-automated, specifically those that use 1 tonne or less of flour daily,
will continue.
Figures by the
Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply show that the government wheat subsidy
stood at JD254 per tonne.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet
approved an executive plan for the 2019–2025 National Youth Strategy, its
programs, the general framework for follow-up, evaluation and quality
assurance, and finance planning.
